Turbine Bearings

Turbines, like all other rotary machines, run on bearings, and although they may be capable of running uninterrupted for a long time, turbine bearings eventually need to be replaced. There are a large number of different types of turbine, including jet engines, steam turbines, wind turbines and even micro-turbines small enough to fit into the palm of your hand. The one similarity between all of them is that they all depend 100% on their bearings, because once the bearings seize the turbine is useless. The makeup of the bearings for a particular turbine is going to depend a lot on the environmental conditions – for example wind turbine bearings need to be corrosion resistant due to their constant exposure to the elements, and this is especially true when the environment is an offshore wind farm.

Technoslide (Pty) Ltd supplies bearings for a wide variety of uses including turbines, gearboxes, fans, electric motors, diesel engines, pumps, compressors, in fact for most applications that involve the use of rotating piece of machinery. Turbine bearings need to be refurbished or replaced from time to time, and where speed of turn around is of the essence, our facilities are designed to satisfy the most demanding of our customers’ requirements. The company is justifiably proud of its performance in this area, but at the same time there can be no compromise in the standard of service that we supply. The company sticks rigidly to the same quality procedures as we do in bearing manufacture. We can repair most bearings with up to a 250mm diameter within 24 hours.
