Self lubricating bearings

The Most Important Benefits of Self-lubricating Bearings

Self-lubricating bearings or sintered bearings are unlike other regular bearings in that they are metallic components that are impregnated with their own lubricant. It is possible to impregnate these bearings with lubricant oil because the material offers high porosity. The purpose of the lubricant is to minimise friction between the bearing and the shaft and makes it possible for the bearing to be used in hydrodynamic conditions.

If you are looking for self-lubricating bearings, you are probably well aware of the various benefits and advantages of these bearings. If you are not 100% certain of all of the benefits of using this specific type of bearing, we list the most important ones below:

  • No risk of seizure. With the constant production of lubrication, the bearing will not seize, which means that it can work for many hours without failure. As such, self-lubricating bearings are highly reliable.
  • Economical to use long-term. Maintenance is always a concern when using bearings. Self-lubricating bearings require very little maintenance and no on-going lubrication, which means that they are extremely economical.
  • Durability and high performance. Average self-lubricating bearings can work under high loads of at least 10 MPa and at speeds of up to 5 m/s. Each of these bearings offers exceptional precision and can work under high pressure with low noise levels.

We manufacture a wide range of self-lubricating bearings in standard sizes. However, we can also custom-design and manufacture bearings according to your specifications.

Our bearings are most often used in the following industrial applications:

  • Electrical and mechanical equipment in the automotive industry; these include starters, cooling equipment, fuel pumps, braking systems, steering systems and so on.
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic and electromagnetic linear and rotary actuators.
  • Medium-low powered electric motors and gearboxes.
  • Appliances needed in the home such as washing machines, juicers, hand tools, vacuum cleaners, lawnmowers, extractor fans, motorised garage doors, roller shutters, swivel chairs, gardening equipment and more.
  • Industrial equipment such as bottling machinery, assembly machinery, sewing machines, catering equipment, farm machinery and similar devices.

Regardless of what you need self-lubricating bearings for, we can design and manufacture just the right ones for you. Let us know what your requirements or specifications are and we will provide you with some advice and a quotation on a tailored solution.

We recommend that you get in touch with us at Technoslide via email or telephone to discuss your needs and requirements and to learn more about our range of self-lubricating bearings.
