Pipe Line Bearing

Technoslide Supplies The Best Pipe Line Bearings

Pipe lines can be subject to substantial linear movement.  The members of all large structures move in sympathy with the elements, earth movement, thermal expansion, permanent shrinkage or creep and load deflections.  However, pipe lines add to these pressure variations, necessitating the very best pipe line bearings to maintain the pipe line’s structural integrity.  Technoslide supplies pipe line bearings that are designed to compliment the complex and unique dynamics of pipe lines.

From the above it is clear that a pipe line is a dynamic, moving structure.  In similar vein, pipe line supports should accommodate these movements with the incorporation of bearings that allow the pipe line to move freely, while at the same time firmly securing the pipe line while supporting its full load.  If these movements are restricted, critical stresses may arise, leading to cracks and weakening of the structure at the supports.  The result will be eventual failure of the structure.

A steel backing strip is clad with a sintered, porous, copper-lead layer, which in turn is impregnated with a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, or Teflon) mixture to make up the material for one of our Glacier DU© dry bearings.  This material has an extremely low friction coefficient and very low resistance to movement.  Crosswise or vertical constraints can be incorporated in the bearing assemblies at the pipe line supports if they are required.  It is important to note that all bearings’ sliding surfaces should be parallel if more than one bearing is to be used in a support.
