DU Bearings

Technoslide (Pty) Ltd was formed in 1998 by management and staff of the now defunct Glacier Bearings SA (Pty) Ltd, consulting in the design, selection and calculation of slide bearings. Under our banner “Keeping you Moving”, we remain at the forefront of technology in our industry. DU Bearings are the ultimate in oil-less bearing design, using lead and tetrafluoroethylene (Teflon) they have excellent wear resistance, which optimizes metal properties such as strength and dimensional stability. The bearing surfaces have such low coefficients of static and dynamic friction that they require no lubrication, while at the same time eliminating sticking and slipping. Unlike regular bearings, which require constant lubrication, DU type bearings do away with the need for costly maintenance. It is also possible to combine them with parts that are totally submerged in a lubricant.

DU bearings have a surface is highly resistant to most industrial chemicals and solvents including gas, oil, and alcohol. They can be used in operating temperatures from -200ºC to 280ºC. The bearings are free from electrostatic induction. DU bearings are light and thin (up to 3 mm thick), requiring little space and permit compact equipment design. They operate smoothly under loads that exert high levels of resistance, impact, intermittent motion, and thrust. Standard bearings are readily available from stock, and non-standard DU bearings can be made according to our clients’ specifications. Technoslide is located at Unit G9, Pinelands Site, Ardeer Road, Modderfontein, Gauteng and we have branches in KwaZulu-Natal and in the United Kingdom.
